Ordinary Woman Extraordinary Life

Today I decided to hit “publish” on this post. It won’t be the best thing you read today, but it will be honest, real, authentic, and full of the everyday moments that somehow make life extraordinary.

I spend most of my day talking to my three wild little grandsons. I LOVE what I’m blessed to do, but sometimes a woman needs a little adult conversation. So here I am, sharing my words, my thoughts, my messy moments, and the ordinary life I’m trying to live well.

If you’re here, welcome. Let’s build a community together. One where we feel loved, encouraged, and reminded that we’re not alone on this great adventure called life.

A Little About Me

I’ve been married to my best friend for thirty‑nine years. Yes, thirty‑nine. And I’ve never regretted a single day. We’re as in love now as we were when we first met … actually more. Not because life has been easy, but because we’ve walked through the hard things together.

We argue, we disagree, we get frustrated, and we talk it out. Anyone who says they never argue is either lying or living on a different planet.

We have two wonderful grown children and a wonderful son‑in‑law, and we adore them. We also have two twins in heaven. That’s a part of our story that still sits tenderly in my heart. Maybe I’ll talk about that someday. Maybe I won’t. But it’s part of who we are.

God has carried us through every season. Truly, only by His grace have we made it through the challenges, the heartbreaks, and the unknowns.

And now? Now I’m a homeschooling Grammy to three wild, wonderful boys. They keep me tired, laughing, praying, and on my toes. They also give me a reason to wake up every morning.

Life is a Gift

I’ve had health challenges. I’ve had seasons where I didn’t know if I’d still be here. That kind of thing changes you. It wakes you up. It reminds you that time is short and life is precious.

If you’re breathing today, God has a purpose for you. You may not feel it. You may not see it. But He hasn’t forgotten you. He never does.

A Day in the Life of Grammy School

Today was like most days:

  • Multiplication with my third‑grader

  • Story time battles with my pre‑K grandson

  • Keeping the toddler out of everything he shouldn’t be in

  • And trying to keep my sanity somewhere in the middle

They’re loud, silly, curious, exhausting, and absolutely precious.

And because it’s Thanksgiving season (when I originally wrote this), I wrote a question on our morning board:

“What are you thankful for?”

Their answers… well… they were very boy.

  • The eight‑year‑old: “God and Jesus.”

  • The four‑year‑old: “Poopy. In the toilet. And farts.”

  • The two‑year‑old: “Pooping in a diaper. And his foot.”

Aren’t those the answers you would give? Lol.
This is my life. This is my daily conversation.
This is why I need adult interaction.

But even in the silliness, there were sweet moments like when one grandson said he was thankful for Earth. And honestly, I’m thankful for Earth too.

If You’re Still Reading…Thank You

I wrote this post a few months ago. I almost deleted it. Then I realized the world needs authenticity now more than ever. So today is the day I was brave (or had a moment of insanity) and hit publish.

So let me end with this:

What are you thankful for today?

It’s not Thanksgiving season right now, but we should always take a moment to ask ourselves that question.

I’m thankful I can talk to you.
I’m thankful God gave me another day.
I’m thankful you’re here because if you’re here, God still has a job for you to do.

Life may be messy. You may feel behind, overwhelmed, or worn out. I get it. I’ve lived it. But you’re still here, and that means your story isn’t finished.

God has not forgotten you.

He loves you more than you know.

Go make the best of your day.

Sandi (Grammy)
